An original song and effort by the Boston music community to call out ICE and complicit government leaders practicing illegal detainment, disappearance, and destruction of hard working families. Please consider supporting all fine organizations trying to help families impacted - especially one of our local favorites MIRA which provides legal support for immigrants and refugees unfairly affected by these policies. The realization of this song ‘Pin Drop’ was the result of a challenge by Andy Plaisted (White Owls), local drummer and owner of Electric Andyland. He volunteered his time as a producer/drummer and so did musicians Dana Colley (Morphine) Chris Rival(Mule Variations) , Timo Shanko (Dub Apocalypse) , to support a 'pin drop' of protest. A million pin drops will help poke through the barriers of ignorance and injustice and hopefully lead to a correction of our current national path. So please help and 1. share this 2. support local organizations wherever you are or in New England MIRA (Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy) Coalition @mira_coalition 3. Keep the pressure on your local representatives to resist bending the knee. Please support MIRA and safely call out illegal detainment wherever you see it. No Kings, ICE Out and cut the shit!#iceout #miracoalition #

DIGITAL ONLY!-Weathervane Records is proud to announce singer songwriter’s twelfth album No Where! Kevin Connolly is an award-winning singer, songwriter, and recording artist with twelve albums of original material and an international touring history. His songs have been featured in major motion pictures and film, earning him recognition for his gritty and evocative storytelling. His latest release, No Where , marks a return to a simpler, acoustic-driven sound, echoing the spirit of sixties folksingers such as Bob Dylan and John Prine. The album’s thirteen songs blend personal reflection with vivid character studies, capturing both intimate moments and the unpredictability of the world today. From the dystopian title track to the flood-soaked metaphor of "Here Comes the Rain," Connolly crafts a landscape that is both haunting and deeply human. The Boston Globe has praised his writing as filled with “intensity and grit,” and No Where expands on that legacy with songs of love, loss, and resilience. Connolly will be out on the road supporting this new release this year- in the past he has played Newport Folk and Kerrville Folk, as well as colleges and coffeehouses nationwide. In addition to music, Connolly has recently turned some of his creative energy to acting, appearing in many independent films and actively auditioning for national television and film roles. Connolly’s first album of original material in five years will only be a digital only release available on all streaming platforms and for download purchase at www.kevinconnolly.com.

No Where was recorded and co-produced by studio veteran and long time collaborator Chris Rival (Peter Wolf, Paula Cole, Lori McKenna) at Middleville Studios outside of Boston. Using vintage microphones and processing equipment all of the tracks were recorded with no click track, no headphones, live to ‘tape’ in one day. With the focus on simplicity and being true to the song, spare instrumental embellishments were added by Rival on guitar and Jim Connolly on bass. As Rival says, “this is an unabashed folk album…the focus remained on the song. Nothing more or less.”

Invisible is a lot more than just a Covid pandemic piece. Invisible is the end of one thing and the beginning of another. Twelve new original tunes, recorded during  the pandemic make for a unique piece of work at an interesting and pivotal period. 'Invisible' is a movement into a new phase of life with grown up kids, new opportunities and time to explore. Half of the songs were written pre-Covid and half during. And the songs cover a broad spectrum. The title cut ‘Invisible’ is a talking blues memory of an old friend. The Cuban influenced ‘Malecon’ is written from the perspective of an expat desperate for connection. ‘Kitchen Walls’ is about the marking of time in a family's life. And 'Lost' captures a feeling we all know with a subtle resolution.

All songs were recorded, mixed and produced by Kevin in his basement outside of Boston with tracks floated in from Frank Corby (drums) in Australia, brother James Connolly (fretless bass, toy piano, banjos etc.) in Santa Barbara and many other very talented musicians who lent a hand during this challenging but creatively rich time- including Jeff Allison, Niall Connolly, Todd Thibaud, Frank Arthor Drake, Sarah Mendelsohn, Scott Corneille, Joe Kessler and Chris Rival (who also mastered it)..

A collaboration of the brothers Connolly stewed over and compiled during one of the worst winters in Boston history. Kevin Connolly comes back after a five year hiatus with an entirely new sound and approach. Constant is the lyrical attention to detail and storytelling (though despite the title he has strayed from a purely New England perspective), different is the compelling layers of sonic touches provided by brother James and long-time co-producer and friend Ducky Carlisle.

With his ninth CD release, Kevin returns to a stripped down sound featuring a wide range of American roots influences and his talented band. Connolly has a way of combining blues, folk, country and Americana influences to create a sound that is distinctly his own. The subject matter on ‘North/East” comes from his back yard and includes songs about old mill towns (“Fall River”), fishing disasters (“Fishing Life”), battle roads (“Battle Roads”), and a car that will take you there (“Chevy Impala”). Ballads go deep in the story of a returning vet in “Mass Ave”, and mysteries prevail in “Let’s Say You Do” and the swampy “Living On The Street”. Sole guest Dennis Brennan contributes blistering harp and backing vocals on the voyeuristic “Window”, while Chris Rival holds it all together with his natural and warm production style. The ballad “Evel Knievel” was co-written by friend and well-known sports author and biographer Leigh Montville, who wrote a book on the late daredevil.

Kevin returns to a big warm sound featuring a wide range of musical influences and some of Boston's best musicians. Influences incldude blues, folk, country and Americana - all combined to make a unique brew. The lyrics tell a story and the band rips it up on cuts like "Writing A Book" and "Walking Out In The Woods." Ballads go deep and talk about emptiness in the form of "Holes" and ask questions as in "House On A Hill." Songs from the perspective of a soldier at war ("Can't Feel The Rain") and songs about watching life fly by in the suburbs ("Here We Are") make this record broad in scope and emotion.

Mystery Water is Connolly’s seventh release and his first all acoustic effort. Recorded mostly live and co-produced by Ducky Carlisle, the sound is spare and simple—inspired by Rick Rubin’s American Recording sessions. Mystery Water is a flavored mix of Americana folk, blues, and roots country influences rounded out by Kevin's sense of melody and foot tapping rhythms. As in the past the songs are short stories and reflections on life using narrative characters and stark details that create black and white images. Connolly's gravel tinged voice is front and center here, complemented by the warm sound of his acoustic guitar, and Steve Sadler’s lap steel, mandolin and dobro.  Available on ITunes (click below)

Produced by long-time guitar player Chris Rival, “Long Conversation” (2002) is probably the most roots influenced thing that Kevin Connolly has done. Pedal steel, mandolin and lots of acoustic guitars add new sounds and textures. Kevin even got James and Frank together for a mini-reunion recording session. The songs range from the introspective “Cold Little House” to whimsical satire in a song like “I Love Me”—a first ever-traditional Irish song “Raglan Road” was also something new and different. This is a very warm sounding record with a dry, natural room sound to it. Ducky and Tom Sheppard help out on a bunch of songs and Nicolas Nobili, a childhood friend and great photographer/artist in his own right, took the photos that range from pictures of Cape Cod to the Black Sea in Turkey.
